Join BAISL!
Whether you are a new or returning member, BAISL is a wonderful group to be
a part of in the upcoming year. Providing support for over 100 librarians
from Sacramento to Monterey, we work to support and encourage one another in
what can sometimes be a lonely profession. By participating in BAISL, you
are showing off the most wonderful aspects of librarianship—cooperation,
communication, and resourcefulness.
In joining BAISL, our members receive great benefits such as three lively
meetings with an assortment of programs, opportunities to apply for grants
and awards to promote different aspects of librarianship, our website (which
will provide a “Members Only” area containing specialized resources), and
not to mention the incredible monetary savings on a range of databases for
kindergarten through twelfth grade.
As a professional organization, BAISL has several committees on which you
can participate and gain professional experience such as our Consortium
Pricing Committee, Grant and Recognition Awards, Summer Reading, and others.
Committee work is a voluntary and valuable part of the organization’s growth
and development and it brings us together. I hope you’ll consider joining a
committee this year (or even creating one of your own!), so please visit our
web site at http://www.baisl.org to find
the committee chair to contact or contact me at
president@baisl.org and I will be
glad to put you in touch with the best person.
Yours in service, Carolyn Karis, President
BAISL Membership FAQ's
|
What is the cost of joining BAISL? |
|
We now offer two ways to join: as an individual ($35) or as an
institution ($100). The individual member will receive the same print
directory, invitation to BAISL meetings and conferences, and consortium
pricing for their school. The institutional membership is an
economical choice for schools which have more than two librarians who wish to
become members. |

When is the membership/renewal membership form due? |
|
October 1 of each year. |
|
How do I renew my BAISL membership? |
Open enrollment begins July 1 and ends October 15.
Option 1: Renewal forms can be downloaded

If I am replacing a BAISL member librarian at my school, does that
make me a member of BAISL? |
|
No, BAISL membership is for individuals, not institutions (the
institutional membership is only offered as a price break for three or
more librarians at a given school). In order to update the contact
information for your school you will be required to join BAISL by
filling out the membership form and paying the appropriate dues. |
|
Can I remain a BAISL member if I leave an independent school library
and join a non-independent school library? |
|
Non-independent school librarians are not eligible for BAISL membership
at this time. |
|
Can I remain a BAISL member when I retire? |
|
Yes, retiring members can continue to renew their membership by paying
dues and making sure to update their contact information. |
